i have got a g16b witch im about to put into my 1L sierra
i have been reading threw the pages in the search but seems that no one has really put one in a 1L sierra or they havent talked about there starter motor anyway
it says to use the 1.3 box flywheel and clutch witch i am doing and it also says use a 1.3L plate that goes between the box and the block. well i dont have one of these so can i modify the 1.6L one to suit ? and can i use the 1.6l starter or will i be required to buy a 1.3 starter?
does the 1.3 starter bolt straight up or is there a bit of dicking around to make it fit ? and will this be enough grunt as it is turning over a bigger motor ?

1.3 and 1.6 starter motors are the same, so it won't pose a problem to use either. What year model is the Sierra?? I ask because if it is a series 1 or 2 (81-11/84), I would make the comment that it would be more hassle than what it is worth to do the conversion.

See this and i think the later 1Ls have stronger transfer and driveshafts.

My 1.3 starter motor (86) definitely did
not fit my 16v EFI 1.6 (91) without major grinding work (virtually through the casing) so it does not foul against the block. It does however fit once this is done, and I've only minor problems since (solved with a strip down and good lube) I have a 1.6 one ready to go when it fails completely and it has a more compact construcion than my 1.3 one.

Numerous reasons:
-The cross member supporting the gearbox is in the wrong place (1.0l 81-11/84 gearboxes are shorter), so that will need to be refabbed (if after 11/84 the crossmember will be right).
-The tunnel is narrower and the 1.3 gearbox is wider (at least in the 81-11/84 model 1.0l).
-The bonnet on a 1.0l is lower than a 1.3l (and if you are fitting a G16 it will be harder again). There is an 25mm difference in height between a G13 to a G16, whilst I have never had a need to know the difference between an F10 to a G16 in height I would imagine it will be bit more than 25mm.
There is plenty of other aspects to consider, I assure it isn't an easy feat (so much easier to acheive in a 1.3l) to acheive but anything is possible.
Good luck.
