Hi guys,
One of the people from work is looking at buying an Aug 2000 P38 4.6 HSE 4spd auto.
Are there any inherent problems with this model? I'd assume (although we ARE talking Land Rover) that being at the end of the production run, most issues would have been fixed???
Cheers
Stu

Yep, a 2000 model will be way better than 1995 for lots of reasons. A lot the major issues were sorted out - eg slipped liners etc as you'd expect with any car towards the end of the model run. However you may find a few really stupid fiddly (sometimes cheap) issues.
Best bet is to become familiar with the model, check a few out, check out all the features, don't be in a hurry to buy- with fuel prices as they are there should be even more V8 Rovers available.
Have browse here http://rangerovers.net/forum/viewforum. ... 0f0171e8db interesting because a lot of these guys just drive them as flashy road cars and aren't real up on the mechanical side - but at least they're smart enough to post the probs where a lot of the other guys are clued up and have all the easy answers.
And have a look here http://rangerovers.net/newrremedies.htm for an idea on some of the major issues - remember though a lot of this relates to earlier models.
IMO a Land Rovers biggest threat is the dealer service department!!
Post any perceived problems on a forum before you get LR to look at the car.
At the end of the day they're just another Rangie with some computers attached. A 2000's computers have better logic programming than the earlier ones - and they all react ONLY to what the sensors are saying.
