body lifted 80's

body lifted 80's. has any one lifted one themselfs and what was invoved. any tips to lok for when doing the lift.

Yep, you need to bend the gear sticks lightly and lower the radiator

And put the rear bolts in upside down.. So there is no need to drill holes through the floorpan...

I had to mod the hole in the fire wall where the steering shaft goes through. Has enyone else done this and how did they do it?

I also had an earth from the engine to the body over stretch and break.

RV what are you refering to with regards to installing bolts upside down?

hey does anyone know if you have to lenghten the fuel inlet pipes and or brake lines, electrical connections. i have never done a body lift before or helped someone do it, but by the sound of it, it is not hard to perform. is that what everone is saying.

You can get a steering extension piece for the steering shaft.
yep - geaqr handles need a bend - brake lines are fine - just tease them where they coil in the front and un clamp at the rear.

Add in 50mm RHS where the weight stays are above the rear coils, you cannot lower the radiator like in a GQ you'd need a gas axe and a good welder to perform that - so cut your shroud at the bottom and make a piece for the top or get thermo's

Fuel lines are fine as they have enough flex from the body to the pump unless they have been cut prior or you engine mount goes!

The rear mounts you can remove teh bolts form the inside(originals) and teh feed correct length bolt up through spacers and tighten.

Never had to mod the firewall hole.... just loosened the shaft at the end of steering box and tightened up again once lift was done

The rear bolts should be put in from the top,they are a tight fit but will go.
Modify the firewall for steering shaft.[otherwise the shaft will rub on firewall& chew out the dust seal]
Remove the bottom of radiator shroud.
Release steering slip joints & adjust column.
Fitt soft bumper above diff area to support floor.

The bolts i got were never going to fit the right way up... And its becoming a ute in a couple of months time so who cares :finger:

The rear bolts will go in from the top.
Maybe you weren't swearing enough to get them in.
As you say its going to be a ute so who cares.
