doe,s any one have or no any one that has drop shackles on there rig,s and if so have they had any trouble with them driving around

apart from being illegal myself and a mate have driven his drop shackled rig on the road with and without the shackles and it made no difference.

This has been discussed before somewhere...

Are they in fact illegal if the pins are in for onroad use??

When they are locked in, they are no different to normal.

When offroad, they just let the leaf drop more when the limit is reached... This can also happen on road if you push too hard.. then u get rollover.

Yeah, heard rumours that dropped shackles are illigeal in qld, not too sure about other states, for 'safety reason'

I think it is because the length of the shackle is still longer than stock and you can legally have extended shackles. If the shackle is the same length as stock then ignore my comment i have no idea...but they are definitely illegal.

I spose it would make sense.. if they are longer they can be classed as extended shackles... which no boys in blue like

I cant see the extended shackle law being enforced too easily, i mean, on rockys atleast the shackles are not easily visible unless you get under the car, and if you only extend them by 1, maybe 2 inches max, its not going to be hugely noticable is it? Of course, drop shackles would be very easy to notice as not stock

Have a search in the Zook section, we talk about these heaps, and the general consensus is they are garbage, but read the posts and make your opinion of them.

Gimme a couple of days (working and drinking take priority) and I will post some pics of mine on a 92 Rocky with the mods to make them sort of legal (in QLD). And they do make a difference when driving on the streets - not quite so safe as normal shackles.

Here's some pics of 'Revolver' shackles fitted to the rear of an F75 Rocky. To increase wheel travel some Koni extended shocks are fitted, the springs are stock standard. The tyres are 31inch so you can get an idea of the clearance. There's a long range tank fitted which makes clearances real tight around the shackles.
They have a steel plate fitted to either end of the shackle to prevent them opening when on road, which can be removed when going off road. And how are they: I wouldn't have a clue because I haven't done any serious off roading. I have used them in the sand and the wheel travel was increased so I'm happy with them.

Ok, it didn't accept all the attachments so here's the other one.

They are very popular in the UK on Suzuki's. Opinion on their on road performance is mixed to say the least. I have followed 2 different cars, both Suzuki (one is a 413, the other has a GM Diesel fitted), and have never seen the shackles open on the road, even when drien at speed on roads with an adverse camber etc.
Off road the shackles give great articulation. Their cars walk stuff that I cross axle in easily.

The daft thing is that th EVO Had more suspension travel than the Sportrak did before it was modded!!

It's better in the snow as well because it has front and rear LSD's because it's an RS.

Do you think I could get Yota axles under an Evo? And Should I remove the swaybar?
