Testing ignition coil?

Hi,

Having a couple issues with setting timing. Thinking it is a not strong enough coil.

When i try the timing light i can only get a pulse from the end of the ig cable and not in the middle anywhere as i could before from the old leads. Btw i have relaced the leads recently.

Would this indicate a Grimace coil or anything.

Whats the procedure for testing a coil?

:)

Just found that too.

I found a couple sites that list a couple different variables.

Test 1 - From pos to neg -
one says 1.5 - 2 ohms
other says 0.4 - 0.6 ohms

Test 2 - From coil output and neg -
one says 4000 - 40000 ohms
other says 5000 - 7200 ohms

found another one
primary .75-.81
secondary 10k-11k

Which is correct or none of them.

Depends on the coil and type of ignition used.
