Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I wanna put racing harnesses in my 97' s/cab Hilux but need to know a few things before hand though & I'm believe the plethora of gurus on here can help.
1. What is a QUALITY yet BASIC & AFFORDABLE pair?
2. Can it actually be done in this vehicle?
3. Do I need to have it ENGINEERED in NSW?

Even if you have them looked at by an engineer you STILL HAVE TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! leave your standard belts in the rig as harnesses are NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! legal on the street. You can wear them on the street you you still have to wear the standard belts as well

Basicly if you only have the harnesses on you can be done by a cop for not wearing your seat belt.

This is for Vic, NSW and Queersland might be different

APPROVED harnesses are legal in QLD.

approved harnesses are not legal for road use in NSW, i tried to get a set passed in NSW for street use, they meet all required ADRs and the engineer told me all the same stuff as what Guts said,.

ADR aproved harnesses can be engineer aproved in NSW. If the belt has a adr number, is engineered in a vehicle, it is the seat belt. you wont have to keep original belts in the car. Having said that- only two inch wide,bolt down, 3 and 4 point belts are elligble as replacement belts, must have 'normal' style click clack buckle to have any hope of an adr aproval. Even though they are aproved as a 'replacement' belt the mounting points have to be changed to suit harnesses- this isn't going to happen in a ute, four seater or a wagon without a lot of work. Many engineers will be reluctant to even discuss it because of the hassle involved. There are some adr aproved new cars that have harnesses from the factory.

not true mate! the only possibility is if you buy german fully retractible harnesses in the $1k price bracket. we are building a 7 and still have to use lap sash even though harness would fit better as the attatchmant point is not really high enough for lap sash. i am in qld and my lap sash in the ute do not work due to me being skinny and the seats having harness holes thus they would need threadding through the holes

I was told by an engineer the olny time you can run harnesses is if youve got a vehicle that doesent havent and adr to say you have to run retractable seat belts as harnesses are classed as lap sash.
