Getting water out of tyres?

Post by Jaffa »

I have searched but couldn't find anything that helped.

I had mud and crap in-between the tyre and rim causing the tyre to leak. I popped the bead off and cleaned it all out with water, stupid me didn't think about the tyre filling up with water.

Ive got some of the water out of the valve by pumping it up and jiggling it arouns while the air is rushing out (no valve in the stem)

Does it matter if there is a bit of water left in the rim? If so how do I get it out?

Thanks
Brendan

pull half the tyre off and soak it up with a rag.

I thought about that, but Im trying to avoid breaking the bead and getting crap in there again, Im working on the driveway which is covered in leaves and rubbish.

If that is the only way then I will do it that way but Im hoping that there might be another way.

It matters al right. I was in a car that busted a bead in a creek on a night run once. We didn't think anything of it a reseated the bead. then we went to go home at about 2 in the morning. when we hit 40 on the hiway the water stuck in one spot and everytime it came round to the top it just about lifted the corner of the car off the ground  . there was about 5- 10 litres in it and it was a zook

yeah popping the bead sounds the only way

water isn't a problem at low spead because they acturly put water in the tyers with some zooks to give it lower weight

but with speed as rhett said its a BIG problem

Cool,

I just popped about a quarter of the tyre off and poured most af the water out, then jammed a towel in to soak up the rest.

Thanks for your advice.

I thought a bit of water actually balance a tyre? Once you have momentum it just cruises around they tyre instead of sloshing etc...?

I've heard similar - might depend on the volume of water?

What about if i cover my truck in metho, will that displace me enough to drive through not only the 1st layer of gravity, but the second?
Cheers,
Dan.

I'd be gettin the water out asap as it will start rusting inside and is a bitch to get the tyre off if it's left for a long time. eg my stock split rims on my first patrol smash the cage out at the tyre place because they werent checked. if this had happened at home it could have been rather interesting. it not real hard to do wot the guys have already said you may even be able to do it on the car. jack it up put axle stand under, take valve out once no air try and kick it off the rim. hopefully works (i've done it with my swampers33x12.5 on 15x8 sunraiser) either that or take to a tyre place cost bugga all get it them balanced while youre at it. hope this helps ;)
