Till the valves float or it cams out, you should be able to feel when there is no point reving it any more

it is still running the standard toyota tacho so when your cruisin down the highway reading 5,000rpm it's only doing 2500. So im not really going to get anywhere near 5 or since since it has plenty of balls below that.

Put it in a commodore and it should go very nice down the highway...

they seem to be able to sit on 5500 all day long, but I know that a stock 253 bottom end in good condition can handle 7500rpm for ages, we used to put all the l34 cam, lifters, springs and manifold on stock bottom ends, they went like a cut cat, only had one let go after about 4 hours between 5500 and 7800, basically lifted the enge off a piston then threw the top ring, a lot of smoke but could still run enough to get home, cheapest motor for fun made, most of them you buy nowdays are just worn cams and stuck EGR, so new cam etc, 4 barrell rochester, yeha

get a cheap tacho off ebay, mount it on the dash for correct reading

Yep, you need a tacho that will 'read' a V8 instead of a 4 cylinder

There used to be a guy around Brisbane who specialised in recalibrating electronic speedo's & tacho's.
