i go a rear locker before the gears as it will get ur furhter, and as all the nissan ppl seem to think the rear lsd is da shit id tighten up your rear lsd and put the locker in the front.

reduction gears will be more beneficial with the size tyres you are running.

they will both give different advantages in different terrains.
rockcrawling gears wont do much in muddy terrain where a locker would. no use going ultra slow in mud, you will sink A locker will get you a lot further, maybe not all the way out, but maybe more into the bog...
low range gears will give you greater control going up hills, picking lines, lumpy (not just rocks) terrain. A locker would also work well in these conditions.
it all depends on what you want to do.

I would think u would be worse of with the reduction gears. What do u do when u lift a wheel and lose forward motion because u have no lockers?? U roll back and hit it harder to try and get past that point.
So gears arnt going to help u there.
With gears u will find your self going slower, so thoses little holes that u usually lift a wheel on but get past because of your speed are now going to stop u in your tracks.
My vote is lockers

Front locker (save for air locker) and tighten rear LSD.
When $$ allow get locker for rear. You may as well go air locker, unless you get a 2nd hand bargain on an auto locker. New, there is not that much difference between air lockers and auto lockers for GQ's.
Crawler gears are the absolute bomb for rocks etc, but get them after the lockers.

Locker in the front, keep the LSD rear. The LSD is "always on" so you don't have to think about it. Once you put in the locker you're either fully locked or open, and may find yourself "caught out." Can't do that with the LSD.
Having said that, I've got front locker and crawler gears, and hardly ever use the front locker - but I love the crawlers.

Front locker.
If the standard LSD is ok leave it alone for now... play with it after you've got your crawler gears.

If it's a manual get a front locker but if its an auto go the reduction gears.
Cheers Mick.

weld both diffs and get a set of gears.
if you don't want to weld, then get a locker for the rear first.
gears second,
front locker third.

i have a lockrite in the front of my hilux, some times it is a little hard to steer when the lokka has engauged its self, but it can disengauge... So what happens when you weld it it cannot disengauge and your steering will be hard as which will put a big strain on your powersteering...
Wouldn't be welding diffs, don't be bodgy and spend the money and do it properly....
thats my idea
