Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I am interested in getting some feedback from anyone with a 4.5 auto who has fitted the low range gears say from marks etc. I am looking at getting them fitted, but concerned what effect, if any it will do in the sand. Although we do few beach trips, a couple a year if you were in soft sand near the high tide mark, i think the low range would be useless as it would be too low? Or do you just leave it in h4 1st gear?
