Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Ok, so ive got the shits with undoing everything by hand now..........

im looking at rattle guns and i have no idea what sort to get. I dont want to spen a fortune, but im not a stingy crunt either, im looking at the trade tools ones cause i use a lot of there gear and have never had a problem with them.

There is 400Ft/Lb and 800FT/LB, now i know which one is better out of these two, but is there anything else that i should look at? Plus there is no rating on the air rachet, so im assuming there all preety much the same as far and tourque goes???

As with most tools, but not all, you actually get what you pay for, spend cheap and thats what you usually get, quality does come at a premium.

I just bought the supercheap stuff because I use it rarely Done brilliantly so far and cheap.....

But if it'll see a lot of use spend some $$$.... you won't regret it

size is the biggest thing, then weight, but size is the main thing, the smaller the better. Ingersol rand are the best

Had supercheap and it was gutless.
Went and bought a skorpian brand a month ago, pulled out of the plastic and noticed inside the air intake was rusty ?? used it and it was worse than the supercheap and appeared to be rusty all thru the internals and it wouldnt stop when you let go of the trigger.
Now got SP brand and it looks flash but havent tried it yet.
I dont mind spending money on decent tools

kc tools do a few I have one of theirs and it is sweet. i was given a 3/8 cordless gunn and it is tops for lighter stuff (love their Support thanks guys). the trade tools stuff looks the goods too. remember that as with all air tools they use a lot of air. you only get the torque at the pressure reccommended which meand your comp needs to keep up cfm and pressure wise

You could also have a look at cordless electric rattle guns. I just bought a hitachi one for my truck. I saw one advertised at glenfords for only $269. Mine was $680. It rocks. It's really small and lasts for ages. It also came with 2 batteries.

My brother just give me sp air rattle n chisel used n abused on cattle station over 10 years still works fine

If youre looking for a midrange rattlegun, SP are a really good brand to get, and Kawasaki also makes a good rattlegun.
A few of the guys at work use Snapon guns, but im not prepared to spend near a thousand dollars for a half inch gun with a few more foot-pounds than my few hundred dollar SP.
But yeh, as i said, going purely from experience, most of us have either SP or Kawasaki, and we abuse the buggery out of them (maintaining them with oil obviously), not one has broken down yet.

Who stocks the SP ones, the trade tools brand is about $230 odd for the 800 FT/Lb, does this sound like a decent price and is 800FT/LB a good tourqe amount?? its the better of there two small guns and from there it goes up to 1200 FT/LB and that has a extra handle, so i dont think i need that.... ideas anyone??

i have been using a trade tool one now for about 4 years $70-80 and havent had any bolt yet that it wouldn't undo on my car

NB I do not use this tool for comercial purposes

U will be able to snap most if not all bolts on your 4x4 with 800ft/lb

its just for home duties.........but i hate buying shit......

i think ill get the trade tools one later this arvo....

Chicago Pneumatic or SP Air - the best by far! Scorpion is crap, and like most cheap brands out of China it is usually much heavier and bigger cause its low tech stuff.

I can stop my GMC rattle gun with my hand .. top stuff, The air ratchet is not bad (Got a kit as a pressie from my wife last year)
I will get something more/betterif I find that I need it

I got the SC set and it suits my uses, if its not used commercially get a SC or similar kit for $100 or so.

I got the SC kit aswell and it does everything i need it to

what kinda price you looking at?? as you can get a really good one from blue point for arounf $300, i had one and traded it for the top of the line Snapon gun which was almost $900. but boy it was worth it!

Have a SP air rattle gun, has lasted 5 years of abuse in the trade, and use at home too.

i use a sidchrome 1/2 impact gun
Max torque 450ft.lbs/612 Nm.
its a mean little machine ive used it for over a year now everyday all day doing wheel nuts and suspension bolts never had one bit of trouble
that cost me $395

as they say u get wt a pay for
ive had a 4ton hoist with a terracarn on it and forgot the gun was under the hoist on the ground and came down on top of it, pickeck it up gave it a brush off and it worked fine
ive chucked it around treat it like crap give it a oil maybe once a week
and it still puts up

ive blown apart one of those superchear yellow imapcts

but if ya gonna be doing heavy duty stuff then go to a 3/4 impact gun and simply get a 1/2 adapter

Chicago Pneumatic or SP Air - the best by far! not wrong mate i picked up my chicago for about 300 bucks and its smaller and has more grunt then the bloke next to me who has a strap on only thing is he has a silent option that the chiccago or sp dont have. i have a no name super cheap air ratshit and im happy with it plenty of leverage to crack the tight bolts like on calipers ect and let the air do the rest. but depending what you are going to use it for you wont need 300 bucks plus worth of rattle gun. also how much work do you do that needs a rattle gun? i 95% of stuff i do at work is by hand un less im puting a diff in or a gearbox or wheels i dont use my gun

fuck 800 foot pounds is plenty enough to snap wheels studs like there goin out of style. sp or chicargo can be found at repco thats where i got mine if you can scam them or have mate in the trade you will do on trade. but you could have the best air tools in the world but if ya have a piss weak super cheap compressor or somthin ya dreaming. go to a tool shop and look at whats around and look at the specs for psi and cfm you want as much torque for the least amount of air used means you dont need a monster compressor. where i work our air pressure is only around the 90psi mark at home i run over 110 psi but i dont have to run air jacks on 3 bays and run air to 2 storys of work shop. ps. as i remember from the paper work i got with mine it only uses max torque in reverse.

This is the gun i use, very nice gun. The work shop also has one that everyone can use, so u can imagen how that gets treated but yet it still goes strong, I dont think i have ever seen anyone oil it.

i bought the 800FT/LB one from super cheap, its preety well undone everything now............... Im having a break

800ft/lb. Nice. But - if you cant undo something easily then stop. Be careful you dont twist things apart. 800ft/lb is way beyond the breaking strain of many bolts.
