Ok so im gonna rebuild the front hubs and while ive got the cv's out i wanna determine if i should replace them. They arent making any noise or causing any problems at the momen, but while ive got them out i figure its worth a look, only i dont know what to look for.

so what do i look for ?

have you got a manual? there will be a procedure in there.

before disassembly, put the axle in a vice and then try and turn the joint, there should be no rotational play or slop. if there is any slop, don't bother pulling it apart, just make it a spare.

disassemble the joint, clean thoroughly, and look for a groove worn into the bell and the star by the balls. look for any wear on the balls. the cage should be ok.

if ok, reassemble the joint and pack with fresh moly grease.
