What sort of price do you recon these are really worth from a yard?
I know most people recon they aren't worth much, but the dealers don't seem to know this.
I'm looking for a 92 model up, 220ish, good condition, can't find much around. Plenty of 90-91 models but they all want $8k plus.
Doesn't seem to be much differance between 3s and 4.2s in price at yards.

if thats the case, then get the 4.2, post 92 ones are alittle better though. Chassis is strengthned and the TD42 had a slight upgrade, pistons and things.........

I would prefer the 3ltr, don't do much towing other than a little box trailer, and it will be a daily driver.
If I could afford to fill a 4.2 I would get one.

the td42 would be cheaper to run than the 3.0 petrol but the tb42 would cost more to run than both

If I were buying something newer I would consider a td42, but not at this age, though there is an ok sounding 95 td42 dx, 200k, $9990. Bit outta my price range though.

There's a 4.2 litre diesel shorty at Pickles auctions this Tuesday, I was thinking of going for a look myself but in reality I don't think I will have spare time this week.
It has a damaged mudguard but nothing too difficult, my guess is it will go for $3k... roughly. It's only an 89 model but it has low miles for its age. 184,000 on a TD42 is nothing provided it's not smokey or anything.
You never know when one at an auction is going to have a factory locker, either - especially a maverick shorty.
Just one option, it wouldn't be hard to get a new mudguard from one that's being wrecked. Dunno if you want a SWB or LWB though.

Hey,
Check for sale section, there is couple of these things for sale (including mine).
I have 3ltr, i loved it brilliant motor (i know some ppl said it's gutless but my 3l has turbocharger system).
I'd tell you to buy mine but it's 90 model but it has travelled 146,000km, but you might like to check it out.
Cheers
