CV maintenance

I have a set of Longfield CVs that have been sitting in the shed on standby for ages waiting for my stock CVs to blow up
They now have surface rust all over them and basically look pretty crap
Any tips for cleaning them up and storing them ?
Does this sound ok ?
- Degrease them
- Wash them (in what ? degreaser, metho, kero ?)
- Light sand (wet and dry to remove rust)
- Grease the cage (and the whole outer)
- Wrap them up (plastic or cloth ?)

how bad is the rust? shut thats hardend is normaly fucked when rust sets in. well that what happens to crown wheels and pinions

chuck them in and wheel it
thats all i do
and make sure there is plenty of grease in them
i dunno how but today i grenaded a hub with stock cv

460 - looks like surface rust - nothing too serious. I just want to try to keep them in good nick til I need them.
Timmy - I dont want to change the CVs unless I have to
But maybe the stockers could be the spares and use the Longs. The stockers have held up to a few Berridale trips and 3 minutes of PUOSU

Dan if you are currently getting the knuckles rotated on your front diff then now is the time to fit these as they should allready have your CVs out to do the rotation. I wouldnt wait till the stock ones break. I would keep the stockers for spares.

I didn't even think about it at the time when I dropped the buggy off
Might be time for a run up to Suziworx
