Upgrading 02 rodeo suspension, your opinions...

I have a 02 Rodeo dual cab, and in the process of looking for a complete suspension upgrade kit, so i want to do the rear springs, torsion bar, and shocks. All offer a lift between 30-50mm.

So far ive had a look at old man emu, tough dog, blue max, ironman, and raw.

Price wise most seem to be around the same (except tough dog) , as well as the warrenty they offer which is either 2-3yrs/40000kms with the exception of the 'RAW's' which offer 2yrs/150000kms.

The main improvements im after are a better ride, while not sacrificing the towing ability of the vehicle, I am tending to lean towards adjustable rear shocks aswell. Im not a super serious 4x4'er

So the question is, which one? what are the pros and con's of each brand? is there any others i should look at?

Im in Newcastle/ Hunter Valley

You could also look at EFS, I got them about a year ago and am very happy with them. Big improvement on the standard suspension.

Thanks saigo,

Willl check them out  What did you have done when you got yours upgraded? Just shocks or everything?

You said it was a big improvement over the standard gear, in what ways?

I got Tough Dog on my R9 Rodeo, 5+1 premium leaf packs and 4x foam cell shocks, Greasable shackles, U- bolts etc. Was 1150 all up. I didnt get the t/bars though and I fitted the kit myself.
Watch out with big bore shocks on R9 Rodeo's, Mine are 41mm or 45mm bore I cant remember, but the tie rod adjuster arm lock nuts rubbed on the shocks when turning so I had to file about 2mm off the side of the nuts. Would have worn through the shock tube if I didn't.
The ride I got now is pretty firm but takes a load a lot better than standard even though I had the Holden heavy duty 6 leaf pack before.
It sits 2" higher too.
Next time around I'll be looking at EFS, I've heard good reports of their products and a better range for holdens.

cheers

mate, dont bother with all that crap. i've just got back from 12,000k's
across 5 deserts and around the top end in a std. 94 tf 2.6 pet. duel cab
only mod is 31x10 tyres. including the simpson east to west, (had fun
snatching cruisers over dunes). if you're towing, just get air bags.
std. is all you need on a rodeo.

Well its been ordered and will be fitted up on wednesday.

I went for TJM's XGS suspension, $1500 new shocks, springs, torsion bars, shackles etc, plus a wheel alignment. Will also give it a 2" lift

Will p[ost some pics when its all done.
