WHAT IS SAFE BOOST?

hey guys...
i have a 2.4L Turbo Deisel Toyota Surf... It is completely stock, and I am just wondering if I can safely run more than stock boost through it? If so... how much more boost and would i just be using a bleed valve?

Mitso,
The first thing you need to fit is a pyrometer, to gauge what is going on in the way EGT. Then you can safely start playing around with fuel delivery and boost as long as the EGT dont start reading to high.
I dont know what a 2.4L runs as stock but you could possible run around 3-5 psi more IF it is tunned right.
Remember with diesels it a matter of matching fuel with boost to gain HP, not just giving the thing a gut load of air.

Giving it more air will not improve power a lot, but it can improve economy. So long as your still within the Turbos effective boost parameters.

I'm not to sure what is std in yours, but a bit more info for you is anything over 9psi boost will benefit from an aftercooler, anything below that and there's no benefit as the air isn't being compressed enough to generate much heat.
Doesn't really answer your question, but may help when you find a figure.
