Anyone got one of these sagging in a series one?? Has anyone attempted to do it themselves??
Can you take out the foam backing aswell or do you have to glue the fabric back on upside down??

You have to get new lining if it is like a Range Rover. The lining is the same as a Commodore so is readily available but needs to be extra wide.
IMHO its worth getting a trimmer to do it, but it depends on whether you think wrinkled lining looks crap like I do.
I paid I think $360 In Sydney so that is on the expensive side. But that is cheap compared to most rover repairs. Cost will depend on sunroof or not etc.

The shell comes out pretty easy and you can reline it yourself, or get an auto upholsterer to do it approx $200. Apparently the hard part is getting cloth that is wide enough to cover the shell, as it also comes down the wall 10 inches or so.
I just removed the fittings and trim so the guy could pop the shell out/in easily - saved me $80. It's amazing how much a new lining improves the interior of a car.

Is the shell material like that of a rangie as in very hard to glue anything to it ? If so use fibreglass resin to paint the shell then glue whatever you like to it.

The fabric is foam backed. The foam dies in about 10 years and turns to dust. this is why the headlining drops, not failure of the glue.
To DIY you have to tear the remainder of the old fabric off , then clean all the old foam off the backing, with gottschalk or similar, then glue the new stuff on.
It generally does not work to try and glue the old stuff on, unless you have no problem with lumps, bumps, stains and folds.
If you do not care about appearance just buy some of those button studs like are in the 2 door lining, and drill a hole and press em in to hold up where it is sagged.

Well it was a mission but i got some new fabric up... sourced 3 metres from spotlight in an awesome grey colour.
Few tips for those that wanna save the money and tackle it yourself.
-Buy a press stud remover
-Those mesh holders and light in the middle of the roof come off when the hood lining is out
-Spend as much time removing all the old crappy foam before applying the glue
-When removing the backing from the car use something to cover your seats as its so hard to get the old foam off your upholstery.
-Most important of all and its something that someone else mentioned was to seal it with something before you glue and apply the cloth otherwise the old backing sucks in the glue like nothing else!!!!
So all up it cost me $35 for the fabric and $42 for 2 litres of quick grip and two paintbrushes...
Took photo's of the whole process and will post them up as soon as i learn how to resize photo's:)
