Hey all you Daihatsu folk,

Thought I'd drop by and say hi. It's probably been over a year since I last was here. For those of you who can remember me, the Feroza is still broken and is still missing a front diff! I just totally lack enthusiasm to fix it. I looked into a Hilux running gear conversion but it was going to be FAR too costly and I have other things needing my funds.

Did anything come of the LSD Feroza diffs rumor? Anyways, good to see your still around Murcod! How have things been?

Don't suppose you'd know of any wreckers in Adelaide who've got gearboxes? It's getting close to replacement time for mine; and then one of the cars will be getting sold....

I haven't heard from Crowey in a while either. I've seen him out and about on the road though. Have you tried Oriental Wreckers - 8384 6055 in Lonsdale or Just Jap Auto Dismantlers - 8369 1899. Just Jap have had everything that I've ever needed however they do know how to charge and prices are always frim!

I'm doing a fair bit of overtime at the moment, have to fix the Mrs car first and then renovate the bathroom. Then, maybe, just maybe, I might get to spend some cash on the old girl again!

You gotta try it yourself. Its not that hard at all. I did it by myself with a trolley jack. The only tricky part is aligning is getting the gearbox back on but as you won't be changing the clutch it should just slide straight back in.

You'll appreciate it sooooo much more if you do it yourself. However doing it yourself may mean it takes you over a year to fix a problem that can be fixed in an afternoon!

I don't think I could say "doing it yourself" any more in this post.

Yeah, do it yourself

Trick with gearboxes is to drain the oil first....makes it a MUCH cleaner job. I hate doing them simply coz I HATE the spell of gearbox oil. Use a trolley jack and get a mate to give you a hand and you'll do it with no problems. Do your clutch and the spigot bearing while you're at it.

The clutch will be getting done at the same time (probably including the flywheel machined). I'm just not keen on doing it myself.....

Seriously, it's not a difficult job at all. A lot of people get really hung up on alignment of clutches, but it's simple as, and the flyheel just unbolts.

I have done a number of clutches and it's simple. Just get a bolt that slips into the spigot bearing, then wrap tape around the bolt to build it up to a thickness it slip through the clutch. Instant alignment tool. The hardest part is access to 1 or 2 bolts on the top of the bellhousing, the rest is simple.

there was a rumour floating around todaythat you stabbed some guy down there last weekend... we've since worked out it was another feroza driver.

THought id drop in and say hello as well. Like Dave (DD) i havent been on here for way too long.. Did the whole marriage thing then started up my own business. So i have been really busy. I see sheidow is getting flogged with about 200 cars per weekend! I would be keen to get a few guys from here again and go down for another play sometime... Or is it your turn to plan something out North David?

G'Day Dave...Glad to see that you are still around. With the Feroza down you have'nt been breaking things Best busted third that I have ever seen.

Hey Crowey...good to see you here also!

Hi Jarrad, I'm about to take mine off the road to get the gearbox rebuilt and clutch done in the next month or so. Then I'll be looking at selling the wife's Excel and later on most likely the Feroza as well- and getting a new car to replace both..... I'm just not getting the use out of the 4WD side of things and miss having a car that handles on road.

(The wife's new Mazda 6 is so much nicer to drive than a Feroza- it made me realise what I've been missing.)
