Unimog!!!! Now that would be interesting, dont forget they are heavy and have portal hubs, you'd be able to drop the rear back to stock springs though. I think the 44 would be a better option.

Cheers

You got a 35.
If you want to keep it and put free wheeling hubs on it you can keep the 4.56s but you will have to get a new airlocker for it.
Then again, not sure if the free wheelin hubs will go on with the disc brakes.
Cant see you looking at mog axels unless your looking at doing both.

Otherwise sell off the 35 as is , or part it out and buy yourself a 44 and set it up the same , but you willl be minus the disc brakes.

Err mog diffs are MASSIVELY different:
Portal boxes give about 6" of lift to the axle,
The diff ratio is 7.54 (hard to match that to your front Dana30),
Your Dana 30 has a 5 stud on 4.5" circle pattern, mogs are 6 studs on 8" circle (actually are 205mm circle but easier to illustrate the difference),
Your Dana 30 fron is approx 60" wide between the wheel mounting surfaces - the Mogs are 69" wide.

Now having said that I HAVE seen a pair of mog axles under an XJ before - but think MASSIVE jobs.....

Forget the unimogs. A dana 44 a good idea {thats what i run}
Alternatively a dana 60 or ford 9" with lots of work. Try http://www.naxja.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=43 for inspiration
