I drove my GQ with 35" and 36" tyres, on 3.9 gears and a auto box, with no problems. It was always pretty slow, (for me. my cars are all hotted up or supercharged V8's. the smallest one in a 5.8liter!) so I recently fitted some 4.6 gears when I fitted the lockers. Havn't had it offroad yet, but it is still slow as anything on the road.

i drive on mine, at 100ks its donig 2050-2100rpm, hills aren't a problem for me, turbo is the way.
i only thing is that when you need 1st low, its abit to fast for rocks and steps, transfer case gears will fix that.

i agree, i noticed HEAPS of difference in 1st low, especially when you want to go slow do rock steps and hills etc. the car tended to want to run away with 3.9s and 35s
35s

got 35's on 3.9 diffs and auto in mine.... went fine off road in low 1st. Did hills not too bad.... but i found it to be back and forwards in the gears. Used a crap load of fuel too.
