Hi Guys
I have a customer with a 96 Wrangler and a 96 Cherokee. They both have no cats and the W has Extractors and a Hi-flow muffler as well as a Carb spacer block and lower diff Ratios but the owner feels the C has more pull than the W. Another W owner whose father has a C feels the same way. Is trhis a fact and does anyone have any suggestions

The cherokee motors were slightly higher power specs and more torque when new cherokee had around 10 Hp more and about 20ftlbs torque more than the wrangler but given the mods the difference shouldnt be really noticeable a dyno tune for both will be the only real test

There was really only about 1kw difference between the C & W.
But they have different gearboxs, different diff ratios, and if modified have different weight & tyres (rolling height/mass)..... etc
A lot of variables......
I'd have to ask why no cat - they are there for a reason - heck could have even lost power by removing it.
TB spacer is IMHo more snake oil - but some owners swear by them so why not ;)
What about the air intake - have they changed tho a K&N etc?
Are the headers factory? if so is the TJ one cracked (really common) which would = less power...if not what brand of aftermarket?

Heck what speed are they talking too? I mean whilst the XJ has the areodynamics of a outhouse, the TJ is more like a barn on wheels.....

Lastky service history? o2 sensors expecially can make a huge difference to how well they run......
