damn thing.
tryin to install the RTC i just bought on the front of the gu. The old one wont farkin come off...
Should i just belt it with a hammer? because there appears to be no nut or anything behind it or anything hold it in place (hard to tell with rubber bush)
Steering is straight ahead...

old parts that you dont want to use again are best removed with the biggest hammer you can find...
or just undo the nuts and turn the wheel both ways. you are talking about removing the damper hey...not the steering arm...

it should fall off when you undo the nuts and turn the wheel full lock both ways. left than right.

The rubber may absorb your hammer hits and return the dampner to where it started. Try twisting the dampner hard back and forward while pushing it off the mount. Try heaps of WD40 sprayed forcefully around the rubber mount. Try putting a flat punch on the rubber and hitting that with a hammer.
I have a feeling the dampner is under load - I'm surprised it is that hard to get off. Perhaps the dampner has failed and is under tension or compression with wheels straightahead. If you can, jack the front wheels up (one big trolley jack under the front diff usually does the trick) and cycle the steering wheel lock to lock. Get someone else to put some love into the dampner while this is happening.

Got the new one on... Its great..
Yeah, the pins on the damper are tapered, and when the nuts are done up they are wedged in there real phukin tight. It took a huge belting before popping out. Took a good 5 minutes with the steel mallet. Theres nothing left of the thread tho so the original is now rendered useless
