Bent Rim Question

I have a GU that I have been having trouble with a vibration with. So far everything seems to be okay or replaced but while getting the tyres balanced we noticed I have 1 bent rim, you could see it on the balancer. So to the back door it went.
I still have a minor vibration in the car and it feels to be in the back end. It's worse through the gear stick than it is through the steering wheel.

I jacked the back tyres off the ground and in 1st gear allowed the wheels to drive while I used a ruler on a box next to the wheel to see if there was any wobble in the rims. There is a little wobble in one of them of around 3-4mm. The tyres have balanced up perfectly.

Would the distortion of the rim be enough to cause the vibration?

I am not sure but is it possible that the vibration is making it look like the rim is distorted while it's turning? That is, you think you are seeing a distorted rim but you're actually seeing a good rim turn on an axle that's wobbling slightly?

Ill have to do a bit more wheel swapping to find out, but good question. I also thought maybe tail shaft, unis, something like that but due its hard to figure out while driving it.

Checked engine and gearbox mounting rubbers yet? Could be shagged.

does the car have a lift of anysort? how big? could be an issue?

check over all of your bushes, panhards, trailing arms etc

if the tyres have been balanced properly that shouldn't be the issue

classic that your replying to a bent rim question NAM...

i'll second the gearbox mounting rubbers, and also say check your driveshaft Uni joints for play/ stiffness, and test your rear pinion for play.
