Big problem with most vacuum hub set-ups is that they suck dirt into the hub/bearing area, especially bad when you have done a long descent into a river, wher the sudden cooling also sucks water past the seals. Water, dirt, grease, and bearings are not a recipie for long life.....Yotes I believe use a similar set-up but disconnect the diff at the third member end.
Another minor problem on some set-ups is that they use engine vacuum to activate the hubs, via a one way valve and a suction canister, which can all but disappear halfway up a hill under full throttle. A get-around for this would be to source an alternator from a diesel (if your vehicle is a petrol) and use the small vacuum pump on the back of it to activate the hubs.
