I am fairly certain that the coronas that the 3t-gte came out in were w50 or 55's and 18r ran these gearboxes in celicas so i guess they would :)

3tgte wont bolt up to W40 box.
it would blow it up anyway.
much better off getting a W58 or W57.these are what came as factory behind the 3tgte.
im a little rusty on this now cos my celica is in hibernation atm.
but if you check out www.toymods.net you should be able to find all the info you want on the 3tgte motor and what it will and wont bolt to.

you will need a T series cross member to bolt it in place of you 18r aswell.
you would be much better off fitting a 1G-GTE.more power(turbo or supercharged 6)and itwill bolt straight on to your existing R series crossmember.plus it will prob be a cheaper motor to buy i think.you can pick em up for round $750 thats what i paid for mine in perth.

yeh like dom said 1G-GTE or GZE would be better. 1.8L won't have much torque to pull a hilux. 1G will be loving it. 3T's are getting too old aswell and if you find one it will need a rebuild if it hasn't had one. 7M would be awesome aswell :D

7m are big and heavy.well known for blowing head gaskets to.
plus they are still expensive.
if your gonna spend money then 1uz-fe woould be awesome.all alloy V8 capable of big horse's with alomst stock internals.

if you are looking for something easy with more power than teh 18r track down an 18rg.
i have one in my celica with cams and P&P that turns 160HP at the fly.works out to about 120HP at the wheels.
you can get more out of these motors to.
but i think the 3tgte would bot be good in a 4wd application cos its a rev machine. lots of HP not much torque(at a guess anyway..)

cheers

7MGE's aren't expensive. big and heavy to an extent doesn't matter so much in a 4wd cause i don't think he is worried about going around a race track.

From what i see on toymods with people building 7M's if you change the HG yourself and do it correctly they are quite reliable. Make HEAPS of torque aswell.
what is your nickname on toymods dominic?
