Just wondering how hilux running gear will hold up to bigger tyres currently running 33s on turbo diesel.

a mate has a lux with everything done to it. if you want to lock the front diff, buy some longfields, dont waste ur money on anything else. everything else has held up.

I run 35's on & off road with 4.88s lockers etc but in standard form the CV's are not up to the task if you like climbing rocks and steep stuff, so you will have to upgrade the front end in a few areas.
Bang for bucks you can't go past Haultec's CV's and there right here in Aust.
I speak from experience having smashed 2 sets of Longs in the past (new & old design). I have been using the Haultechs for approx 12 mths now and there grouse

. Oh yeah and lockers would be a good inclusion.

Yep definitely update to the Haultech's.
The stock CV's aren't very strong IMHO.
I never busted an IFS front Mitsu CV in 4 years even with a front locker and 35"s and I had it bouncing up and down under full noise (fully locked) and no probs. Busted 3 rear axles though.................
The first trip out after the SAS busted a front CV (read grenaded) after everyone kept telling me about the strength updrade going to a solid axle
This was on a track that I'd driven many times with the IFS without incident.
Well I got a set of Haultech's and haven't looked back, been almost 12 months now and no probs. I was with HG when he busted a Long and I can tell you he wasn't doing anything stupid or hard. If it was me I would have been severely pissed off if I busted an IFS CV in that situation !!!
My front Toyo axle runs an ARB, high pinion 5.29 with solid spacer and 35"s.
So far so good with this set up.
