Outer Limits 4x4 Board

i am looking to weld up my front diff soon and im just wondering who has done this and how long it will last before it need rewelding or a new diff

i would only do the front as you can still drive properly and unlock it when not off road so it wont cause any dramas on the road

Ive done it in a old patrol and its sweet as. I just welded the spider gears together with no plates,etc and its all sweet. Been about 6 months now and am very happy. Might pay to preheat it up a bit first b4 welding

how do you go up the bush with welded front tho? does it understeer really badly or can you control it? interested in doing it in the 40

Yeah, they dont really steer... lol

You have to leave one side unlocked until you are going to do hard stuff. And then its best if you just need to go straight... lol

when locked, an airlocker does exactly the same thing

Yeah i run one hub locked and then lock in the other when i need it. On real hard pack it can bind up and take a few goes to turn it. But on loose stuff its all okay.

As long as you are rolling the tyres will turn, If you are stopped its gunna hurt , but you shouldnt be doing that anyway.

With one hub locked it tends to pull to the side a bit, But i can live with it for the price i payed for my welded diff.
