I have recently purchased a 99 1HZ cruiser and would like to know the following info.
How much oil do you put in it at service intervals? I'll be changing oil and filters at 5000 kms just like I have with every other diesel I have owned.
Oil grade?
Oil capacity?
Oil filter code? (I should be able to work this out at the parts store)
If anyone could please provide this info, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Anthony

hi they take about 9.5 L of oil, i use penrite HPR diesel. your best off to go into a auto shop like repco and ask, they have have all the info there for what filiter it will take, and what grade oil you will need.

Thanks mate.
It's just been serviced so it'll be a couple of months before it needs another - so I've got some time up my sleeve to find out.

Anthony,
There is no real need to change the filter every 5000 you can get away with changing them every 10000 – your choice, as long as you do oil every 5000.
Oil grade - well this will open up some discussion, generally a 15W/40 such as Castrol RX Super or Shell Rimula X is suitable – people have their own “favourite” oil manufacturer and some will even tell you everything else is no good! Use what works for you.
Capacity is 9.5l with filter.
I do not know the Filter code off hand – don’t worry just tell them what it is for – I recommend that you don’t buy el cheapo filters – have a look at the Toyota original or equivalent quality one and you will see why. It amazes me people will spend big $$ on good oil and scrimp on cheap filters.
Cheers

Who did the service? personally id go round and change ALL the oils myself, that way i know whats in there. Its cheap insurance, esp on a diesel as if its just crap oil and something goes wrong. you will cry
There is conjecture about changing the oil filter, for the extra $10, why not? i reckon its lke re-using dunny paper a second time.. there is still all the sh*t stuck in there from last time.
Penrite HPR Diesel, but this is 20/50 and is pretty thick stuff, if it gets cold in your area you could have trouble with low oil pressure on start up. RX super and Rimula X are both good. Not sure if these engines prefer high calcium oils like the smaller hilux motors, DumbDunce will be the man to answer that question + anything else you can dream up to ask him

Toyota part no. 90915-30002. If you've ever cut one open and compared it to non-genuine offerings you wouldn't use them - they are cheaper for a reason. OE ones can be had for about $27 each if you bargain hard.
I *think* Ryco no. is Z334

Sweet!
So I'll head on down to Repco and grab a 10Ltr Drum and some filters. Sounds good to me.
Thanks for your help!
