Hey,

This might seem like a stupid question but these air shocks by racerunner, fox etc...

Do they have fluid in them at all? Do u just pump them up with air to make them hard and vise versa to make them soft?

I have a pair of 2.5" racerunners, i know they have oil in them and are filled to 200psi with nitrogen.

Just wanting to know whats the difference between what ive got and the air shocks.
And how do they compare to each other - pros n cons

They are the same as your shocks basically.

If they are the same as mine why is it that knowone runs the coil over the outside of the shock? This mean i can run mine like that also? wish i knew that before i paid $300 for the coils!!!

The ratio of the diameter of the rod to the diameter of the can is much greater for the airshock, so the air shock looses much more internal volume when compressed.

As the nitrogen compresses and the oil doesn't ,the mix of amount of oil and amount of nitrogen, along with the pressure of the nitrogen will affect the spring rate.

Damping is a function of amount of oil, piston valving and viscosity of oil.

They are all pretty interconnected and as such it seems to be pretty hard to get the mix right for anything other than a comp buggy.

I am pretty interested in a recreational rather than comp buggy build on pirate that uses airshocks for springing and big bypass shocks for valving.

There not the same, but similar, you cant use yours as air shox
