Has anyone had a dealer change a timing chain. How much. Yes chain series 2 double overhead cam. The chain will cost $106 with no gst. +%. What about the tensioner change it too. Will do the drive belts too. But will match them from the local auto shop. Suzuki want $74 for one. A joke. Any comments price advice etc. I know my limits and will not try this.

Go to repco or similar and source the belts/ chains through them. If they cannot get an aftermarket one then you will HAVE to buy genuine. Also, buy a haynes service maual and have a read. You may find that this job is simple enough to do yourself.

Already have the service manaul. I'm man enough to say it's a bit too much for me. Even thoe I work with cars. Got a price from a dealer about a grand. Gaskets and tensioner needed. The service manager also said if it not making noise leave it. True or false. The belt on the single gets change at 105,000. Oh mine on 99,000.

chain unlike belt is only changed if it is making noise.........they will need a lot more kays than 99000 to be a worry.....

Don't worry about it Rob.....as the rubber belts wear out and break but chain will get noisey and only then would you have to worry about it.....

You say you have the workshop manual for the m13a???

Do you have the wiring diagram for the m13a and 4sp auto??

As the dealer said, only change if noisy.

Nice more money for mods. I'm thinking a rear diff lock and weld the front.
