What is the vacuum looking thing that has a mechanical link to the exhuast side of turbine and flexipipe going to airbox for?

What does the airsensor do?

Seriously what do they do

waste gate for over boost perhaps

Sounds like a form of EGR, or a system that helps the motor to warm up quicker by drawing warm air into the intake, to help reduce emissions at warmup temperatures. Without pics it's hard to say.
