Were can I buy Calmini gears in Australia or do I have to order them from the states.....

Is it an 81 Sierra that you want a gear set for??

I have been told that calminis have a lifetime warranty, is this true or crap. I have heard of a few people that have busted rockhoppers, that’s why I’m thinking the calminis. I haven’t had either before.

The gears are for my brothers 1993 sierra, 31's and its a killa when its comes to clutchs. But I am also interested.

you can get calmini in aus from 4wd usa perth(can be be months if not in stock) but if you want good service & your parts soon, buy from spidertrax in the states $695 US this month plus freight.
definitely cheaper than buying them here, also no duty on things made in the states now i'm told

calmini are 20% reduction in high range i think rockhoppers are 18% in high range
low range is 6.5 to1 calmini
low range is 6 to 1 rockhopper series 3

Go the Calmini gears I have a set in a Vitara.
Worth the money.

I have a set of calmini 5.14 gears in my sierra. Had series 1 rockhopper before, and busted them. Have not had a problem with the calmini's so far. Got them through Sean at ABT. Good service and no hassle.

never had a problem with them and they have copped a pretty hard time.

Series 1 wasnt that high, bout 12% or so. I used to run these till i blew them up, then went to Calmini, they were not that low.

How much does it cost to get them here from the states? is there hidden costs involved such as import taxs. Ive never brought anything from the states before.


6.5 or 5.14 ratio....1.3L suzuki diffs & 31's?


Would the 5.14 calmini gears give me the same or close crawl ratio as if I put in 5.12 vitara diff gears into the 1.3L diffs?

Calmini 6.5:1 gears are $695 USD ($920 AUD) on special ends today. How much are they here in Aus?

Does anyone know the freight charge to bring a set over?

When i enquired about it to calmini they said they don't deal here to public & to contact 4wdUSA, who seem very Sporadic with replies to emails and I find people don't give the same information over the phone as in written contact (this from working in customer service myself)

There are plenty of places in NSW that sell calmini stuff. I was pretty sure that calmini stuff could be ordered from the states, try somewhere other than calmini, there are plenty of places over there that will ship. I have ordered a detroit ez-locker from the states, was heaps cheaper than over here and had no prolem finding it (www.roadlessgear.com). I got my Calmini's from Sean at ABT bout a year ago. Cant remember the price but it wasn't too bad at all, and the service was great. Prob would of looked overseas, but i had just grenaded a set of series 1's and needed the car back on the road.

Not without my self getting sued.

I just say any part/accessories supplied that asks for upfront money, does not deliver until you ring them, take 8 months to get parts in, ships order in batches and then charges more will not get more of my business.

Deal with Rick at Hawk Strictly Suzuki. he is a Calmini stockist and he is good and will send USPS which is cheaper than UPS and almost as quick in my experience. He and Brent at TrailTough always get pretty good raps for their service.

Got in contact with Calmini in the states this week, 5.14 with freight to OZ $675US over $900Aus. How much duty would be applicable. If anyone has a transfer case for sale with crawler gears in Brisbane let me know, PPLLEEAASSEEEEE.

Ive heard about this lifetime warranty on calmini gears however, im curious as to whether you would still be covered by it if you bouhgt from an overseas supplyer.

I saw (read heard) a friend on the weekend completely bust up a SERIES 4 Rockhopper while trying to take off on flat ground in a sierra on 31's - no prior wheelin had been done .

If you can get gears with a warranty, don't hesitate with them

thats some pretty severe failures occuring. any other reports of series 4 failures.
