Gday guys I at the moment have a 4.4 leyland motor with rangie heads bolted to a ZF auto(with an adaption plate i think) in my buggy. What im planning to do is bolt in a 3.9 injected disco motor and want to know if there is anything that will not bolt straight up. Or needs to be modified between the 2 to get the 3.9 in.

It will bolt straight in with exception of needing the zf to rover V8 torque converter adapter and the engine mount brackets which would have been modified when fitting the 4.4 - the top bolt holes are higher up on a 4.4 and possibly only 1 on the bottom instead of the rovers 2 bolt holes.

Being in a buggy they are custom mounts which i have alot of room to redrill holes if i have to and the 4.4 does have 2 bottom holes then 1 higher for engine mount bolts. so all ill have to get is the torque converter and im right? The exhaust manifolds bolt up the same i assume since i have rangie heads on the 4.4?
Cheers loanrangie for the info Can u beleive i totally forgot bout getting a torque converter since the engine is coming with a 5 speed manual.

The t/c will be the right one but you will need the adapter to suit the rover crank bolt pattern, engine mounts on the chassis will be ok just the plates on the block are a bit taller to allow for the taller block of the 4.4. If the 3.9 comes with the engine mount plates on the block it will bolt right in.

Hey just a question . With the 4.4 bolted to the zf with an adaptor plate , is that a plate between the block and the gearbox or for the torque converter to the p76 crank ?

If its on the crank I may be looking for one .

Cheers

Man you gotta be quick around here . Can anyone pass on any details about it . I am guessing its a modified torque plate . Know anyone that makes them ? This is the last piece of teh puzzle to get me p76 crank into my 3.9 but I want to keep the zf auto .

Cheers

Chris, post up your email address and i can send you pics of one, it is a thick steel spacer drilled for the 4.4 crank and a plate bolts to that and the converter bolts to the plate.
