Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Here in the US we never got the Coilly serria/samurai. I was wondering if swapping to a factory coil suspension was a bolt on task or is there a ton of fabrication needed. My zook is a 2wd, that will never see offroad, since it's being built as a street performance ride. I think that the coil suspension will add to a nicer ride. From pics that I have seen, it looks like a simple swap.

Definately not simple, and in my opinion not worth the hassle.

It is possible to fabricate a custom coil setup though, and considerably easier than trying to graft the factory coily components to a leafy.

Why don't you hunt down some aftermarket front coilover strut assemblies from a skyline or 200SX ( S15 ) or similar, graft those in and make your own links. This will give you fantastic on road performance, adjustable suspension, and if setup correctly, you will have one of the few zooks in the world that handles like its on rails.

There are very very few interchangeable parts between a coil sprung sierra and a leaf sprung car.

Most people would say that they don't even ride much better. It is not a very good coil design in a number of areas.

I would visit some hot rod shops. The simple steering/suspension design is very similar to hot rod technology and there are lots of parts available to make them handle better. Even the steering box is very similar to rod stuff.

Just my 2c worth.
