G'day all, I've done the search and know about getting the ratio on the compliance plate but my question is can you get the ratio from the numbers stamped on the diff housing itself as the diff I'm looking at is not attached to vehicle anymore. I think I have to pull the centre out to count teeth but am trying to avoid it. Cheers. also how many teeth for each type of diff ratio if thats the case.

if you can get the centre out, the ratio is actually stamped on the ring and pinion, well its definatly on the ring gear but im sure its on the pinion also

Or divide the ring gear teeth by the pinion teeth. eg 41 ring gear teeth, 10 pinion teeth, 4.1 ratio.
