what rear diff centre will fit my 90 swb vitara???

hi guys..
i wanted to weld my rear diff.....bit short of $$$ atm....... i want to keep the original vitara one so i need to get a replacment diff centre.. what other diff centre will fit???...say a toyota or patrol....? i want to weld up the replacment rear diff centre... or maybe get a lsd off another car???


i have been quoted $300 for a stock vitara diff centre.... is that good???
should i just weld up my original diff ???

nothing will replace a vit centre except another vit centre.

welding a diff is illegal to run on road, and will void any insurance of sorts in any accident. also, not recommended for a lot of road driving, as it will increase tyre wear. (not good if you are short on cash)
also, if not welded properly with pre heating and cooling, the welded centre can break.

i bought a stock 3rd for the rear of my vitara for $400. seemed ok price about a year ago. i was in need desperately, so i guess thats why i got it for a bit much. a 3rd is what is pulled out of the diff housing intact, which has the centre, crown wheel and pinion, and should be fine to bolt straight into another diff, if it is still good (backlash)

a centre is where the spider and side gears are, and you will need to pull your old diff apart to put the centre in. also, keeping the pinion and crown wheel together is better, as they have worn the same.
