hi i was wondering if the 80 series engines are the same as 100 series i know they are both twin cam 4.5 litre ive had a look and the only difference i can see is some of the injection and dizzy would the later model gear fit onto the earlier motor.im thinking of selling my 80 series but my 100 series blows a bit of smoke so im thinking change the good gear out of my 80 and putit in my 100 series also are the gearboxes the same ,my 80 one is better than my 100 the shifter seems to come through the floor in diferent places any one else ever done such a thing. i know all my suspension ect will fit .also are the diff housings exactly the same s i have lockers in my 80 and prefer them as they are stronger than the 100 series (front) and would prefer the 6 stud pattern hubs in my 100 series. thanks any info appreciated muds

Just out of interest, if everything in your 80 is better than your 100 series, why wouldn't you get rid of the 100 instead of the 80?

Mate, your going toget alot of work for yourself.....the motors wont change, the 100 has no dizzy, th 80 does...80 motor needs 80 efi....by all means swap diff centres....swap springs, etc....but you r probably better off doing the head on the 100 with the money you get from the 80.

there are few differances

the 100 series 4.5 has

a few extra kw

no airflow sensor

has a coil pack instead of a dizzy

these are the differances i know off
