Found some good tech from pirate regarding running of toyota carbies at angles.

I will do these mods over the next few weeks and let you know what difference they make. I just have to find a consistant gradient to do some testing on.

Andrew, Brisbane.
Bundera 85, SWB,22R.
Fuel problem most evident with my engine.
I was talking to a friend from Moss str and he mentioned a fire extinguisher made into a canister attached to the firewall beside the brake booster and fuel fed into this canister by a electric fuel pump, this acts as a sluss bowl and keeps constant fuel in the carby at any angle..
I have not tried this as i beleve the float level remains the same?
I am interested in opinions and truths. Any update would be appreciated.
Keen to Climb..

Ps ..can I join your club..?

Your problem is most likely to be too much fuel as opposed to not enough. When the engine stalls, does it blow smoke when it starts? If so that's probably flooding from too much fuel. When you point the nose of the vehicle in the air, the fuel rushes to the back of the carby. The float (just like the float in a toilet cistern) is hinged at the rear of the carby and the float part toward the front. As the fuel rushes from the front to the rear, the float drops which activates another set of valves allowing more fuel to enter the carby coz the float is telling it that it needs it.

This is the way that I understand it anyway :finger:

I priced a pressure regulator today and about $100 for one to suit an 8mm line but didn't have one for a 6mm line.

Oh, and welcome Joey's Jinker II

Thanks for the feedback, but I've been in a roll over since then so the Bundy will be off the road for 9 weeks. While its off the road I'll be making side rails , lift kit and looking at the carb problem.
Pictures - will find some.
Always looking for people to drive with.

Pictures are been digitaly changed now to upload.
On sunday the 21/9/03 at 1pm i was at Omeau climbing the big rock wall ( not the bumcrack , the other one that climbs all the way up to the top. it comes out where the mud holes are on the left hand side) and got about 100 feet from the top where it takes a sharp turn off to the left ( Boy was it dug out), engaged both lockers and started climbing, the front drivers side hit up on a big rock (about a 16" size on face)and lifted the front of the bundy in the air ( so light in the front end the buggars), and the rear danced off to the left causing the bundy to gently roll over on it's side. In hindsight if I had of disengaged the rear locker the vehicle might have kept crawling upwards.
NEVERMIND ALL INSURED. Paperwork posted this morning. 6k of damage including labour.
One question comes to mind !! How could I keep the front end down, while climbing ??
Also looking for a pair of rocksliding side bars(have the pipe if somone wants to lend a hand) to protect the doors and side sills.

Many many thanks go to the fellows from the club who gave me a hand to put the bundy back on her feet. Beers all round next time we meet.
