The main bolt is on Bloody tight. The starter cant crack it , Cant get a bar big enough.

Did a search and it said after 86 they are loctited from the factory

So, How do you undo it. More leverage or add some heat ?

Cheers

A longer breaker bar and six more Wheat Bix will do the trickā€¦.

had a mates one it was on so tight that with a breaker bar strapped to the chassis we rolled the truck down hill in 1st & 2nd low range and drop the clutch and it snapped the breaker bar

Just try soaking it in some good industrial strength lubricant. Then get the longest tube you can onto your breaker bar to increase the leverage :)

another way is

to find out what way the motor spins fit the breaker bar to the bolt and lock it on the chassi and hit the starter

I done this once with some FT crossmember bolts,
jack the car up,
place the breaker bar so one end is on the ground,
slowly let the car down,

Might work, But how can we lock the motor up to stop it spinning. We tried the usual brake, gears etc. But it seemed to be spinning on the clutch .

Thanks for the help guys.

OK had the same with an old charger once,
Wrapped some steel calbe around the harmonic a few times,
Rotated the engine to take up the slack,
Then cracked the bolt with a breaker bar.
Worth a try, or half an hour on a rattle gun might do it.

If there is room go to a local tyre shop that does trucks and get the 3/4 gun on it.

sorry for hijacking thread but how do you get the bugger of a thing off if the engine has already been removed from the vehicle?

Cheers

I was chucking my balancer out, so i whacked some bolts in in and jammed a bit of wood through the bolts. Then it's just a matter of a loong breaker bar.

Well, My step dad took it to a 4wd place today and they used a special tool to remove it. He said it was similiar to an impact wrench but different. They reckon the tool is worth about $600 and is used on late model fords which also suffer the same drama.

Anywayz , All is well with the old cruiser

Thankx
