what tyres width/height can be run on mq/k patrols before stuff starts to
break?
i now of a 60 that shat its wheelstuds with 15x10, 38x15 and 3" spacers

im loooking at running cut n reversed 15x8s, 2" spacers and 37/13.5 tyres
so in short when is too much and crap to start breaking easy?

I would say stuff breaks when it does.

There's so many variables, age, condition, driving style it's all unique.

If you're driving with 35"s ok or 36"s, then 37's will probably be ok too.

If you wanna go straight to the biggest and baddest there's no simple answers.

why so wide?? without the spacers your going to be over 2M already!!

I run cut and flipped rims, they are wide enough with out the wheel spaces. I run 35s on mine and done so for over a year with no breaks so far, I cant see why 37s should be a problem. Im going to run 37s on mine and conferdent that i wont break to much.

ok my cars down the shop so im looking for a trailer.

can i get some measurement of mq/k patrol widths?
i think mine is ~1800 wide with 15x8 ands 33x12.5 TSL

im assuming 1800 or 1900mm to be about right

with 38-12.5's on cut and flipped 8's im just over 2100 i think

so you shat the axle studs on the 60 series axle?

if so upgrade that to the 10mm studs, problem solved.

Was it the vehicles wheel studs that broke, or the spacers studs. Running spacers can put more stress on studs, so this can also factor into breakages.

There are a few variables.....

with regards to width...... the further out you go the more stress you put on your Kingpin bearings, wheelbearings, studs, and even your power steering pump will more than likely start leaking as it wont be able to turn the tyres... You will also wear your tyres more and your turning circle will decrease.

If you run wheelspacers, make sure you run ones that you can bolt on to the hub, then a seperate set of studs bolt to the wheel... so 12 in total.
If you run spacers that have extended studs your asking for trouble...

I ran Flipped rims..... ( which is about 2.5 inches of extra width each side. ) and 38x12.5 inch tyres without concern... i tried to run wheel spacers as well as this but the stress on my hubs was visable just jacking up the front end and letting it back down... the extra pressure on the bearings with the 2 inch spacers and flipped rims was very very large....

At the moment, i run 39x16 inch tyres... and 2 inch spacers on 15x10s which is a little wider than the 38x12.5s on flipped rims... and i beleive where i am is borderline width for these diffs. i wouldnt extend width past the hub anymore than this.

L28.... bugger all
diesel'd.... bugger all
Turbo diesel's.... little bit
V8.... depends how its driven, i recently snapped a rear axle cos i landed with the foot planted on a hill climb running 36's & had the torque to snap it. A smaller motor probably wouldn't have as big a chance of this

geared 2.8TD... but im more talkin about axles-internals, bearings
knuckles etc
