im looking at buying a unimig procraft 195 (200amp). wondering if anyone has any experience with these welders. ill be building my exo with it and engine mounts etc. aswell. will it be enough? should i try and get something bigger or better? money is a factor, i can get this for about $900 in a couple of weeks as i have access to an ABN so i can get it cheaper than retail in most cases. any help appreciated

If ur doing it at home
and are gonna use it alot
get a sparky to run a straight line from the power box
this way u wont be over-loading the electrical system in ya house
and blwoing fuses
If the mig is 3phase that u have gotta do this anyway

195a will be a 15a single phase unit - so he will probably need a sparky to put a new run.4x4Monkey wrote:If ur doing it at home

Although if you have a modern house you can sometime get lucky - a mate just noticed that his garage as 2x15a GPOs in the garage.

i have the 195 Unimig and run it of the standard power in my shed at the moment however will be getting a sparky (Bartso you slacko) to run separate power into the shed for it as i will be upgrading to the 240 in the near future
the only problem with the 195 is that it has the small gun etc which are really only suitable for the smaller migs like the 150s and not the euro fit one..i just bought a euro gun and an adapter kit and converted mine to take the bigger Binzel 24 gun

don't go smaller than the 240 you will regret it. i mainly use mine on 8 for steel and alloy, even with my direct 2m long from meter box 4.5mm2 20amp socket 35amp breaker. especially tacking exo's etc you need the tack to penetrate such that it doesn't weaken the weld later.
i have had about 7 - 10 15kg rolls through mine and its still 100% but i have changed the steel sleeve (bought a new gun for steel re fitted old one with teflon tube, bigger tip etc)
i have needed more herbs on ocassion so definatly get at least 240 you will regret it otherwise.
