Looking for straight answer

I've been searching for answers in the FAQ but i'm not too sure about it
It is my understanding the difference with NT and WT is the diff width, chassis width, but isn't the body the same width without the flares?
I've been around to wreckers and they've given me the run around as well. they once told me that bonnet off a WT won't fit on a NT? is this true?

pretty shure NT and WT chassis width is the same , but WT spring spacing is wider than NT, as are the diffs, doors and tailgates are a strait swap, bonnet should be too, though im not shure about a 1ltr NT bonnet, as early 1ltrs have the one piece front clip\grill,
dunno

all body parts are swapable...with a 1L hood tho you might find it will hit the head...not 100% sure
WT NT and 1L all seem to have the same rear leaf spacing it is just the front? that is outboarded on the WT's

tubs are all the same from 1L to 1.3L WT

1.0 litre bonnet has no power bulge and may hit top of a 1.3..
body lift solves that anyway.
Holes in tub for gear stick and t-case stick on 1.0 are slighty different from 1.3.
Tunnel width on a 1.0 is narrower.
Chassis is same width, as said, but spring hangers on WT are wider, as in out riggers from chassis, rather than under chassis on the NT.
1.3 and 10 Tubs are very close, but difficulties can ensue from body swaps.. 1.3 WT and NT tubs are almost identical.
Just what I think, can't back it with facts,

Not totally correct. The 1 litre tub has a different transmission tunnel ( its narrower) and the shifter holes are in a different location. 1L tubs are also without the brake booster and its mounting holes.
ALL 1.3L tubs are interchangable except coilt tubs. They have a higher cowl panel and a fixed windscreen frame that mean that only a coily front clip and bonnet can be used. Doors and tailgate are the same as any other sierra tho.

Rear is outboard too on WT, that makes them a poo to do a 3/4 rear on.

There is slight differences in the tubs and whilst a tub may bolt straight onto any chassis (1.0 or 1.3), fixing the ancillaries might be very difficult. As already raised, the 1.0 had a narrower tunnel up until the series 3 on(11/84+) when the 1.0 gearbox with 1.3 internals came in. Other changes along the way happened in 8/88, in the soft top the captives for the hinges in the windscreen were moved and the bumpers mounted to the body and not the chassis. There were little changes along the way but in some instances may make the difference. Again as already mentioned the 1.3 engine sits higher so the 1.0 bonnet may bolt on but won't suit the 1.3.
For the track it was 30mm wider in the W/T and the balance of difference was made up in the rims. The W/T springs and mounts sit offset to the chassis as opposed to the N/T where they sit directly under the chassis. Chassis's are the same width 1.0-1.3.

i just had my head under one the other day
the front of the leaf are outboarded but the back end is under the chassis

I promise you that the spring spacing on a widetrack rear is differerent. I have done a widetrack diff conversion and the spring perches had to be brought closer together.

while we are on the topic of interchangable parts....i read somewhere here that the coily doors have side intrusions...is this correct or BS?
also Podge, you said the track is 30mm wider in the WT and the balance was made up in the rims.....i was under the impression that the WT was 60mm wider than the NT....is this true and you are saying that the diffs are only 30mm wider and the rims had 30mm more backspacing? or am i off the track of what you meant?

the spring spacing on each side is 30mm wider. the total extra width is 60mm. And yes coilys have side intrusions. they are a much more solidly built door.

so then will the coily doors fit on the WT & NT

Did some research and found that the W/T Sierra is neither 40 or 60mm wider than the N/T but is 100mm wider (or 4" as the information showed). It is 90mm in the diffs and 10mm on the rims (approximately).

they look the same. and unbolt the same. they also have a fair bit of sound proofing in them. you would struggle to get them in your colour.
