Hi all was wondering if anyone could tell me if a gq ute cab will fit onto a gq wagon chassis
Also considering a wagon chop to a xtra cab ute back
Which would be easyier ?
feed back from people that have done the wagon chop would be very convincing to do the chop

^-- AGREE
Main idea is to design it to what you want to carry (storage) and build to you're needs

Id go the ute body. No tehnical info to really back up the claim but i think it'd be cheaper and would be a nice factory look. Maybe even a MQ cab if your real keen.
Then theres the whole Sell your car and buy a ute theory.
Cheers

i have done it, but using a shorty, there is a bit involved,
firstly, i would be making a rough plan on what you want, what materials you plan to use, welding techniques, how your gunna brace it, and ideas like that, then i would be talking to a local engineer,
with all your info, he will know you have done your research, if you give him the right details, he will be alot happier to let you do it so he can sign off on it,
if you got any particular questions just ask,

GQ ute cabs are to small. There is no room behind the seats. Maybe just enough for a jumper and thats it.
Also from looking at the price difference. I rekon you could find a GQ LWB wagon 5-6g cheaper than an equivilant condition ute. This price difference would come close to covering a ute chop into an extra cab.
If I ever did one I would make it so there was just enough room to fit a roll cage and a smallish fridge(21lt) behind the seats.

Cut the back of an MQ ute cab and fix it to the front of the GQ wagon cab.

There's a photo of Birdy's new comp truck in
http://www.ontrack4x4.net.au/4x4Rides.htm
It's a wagon chopped into an extra cab. It will be ready for the Ateco at end of July.

i have seen physical proof of the ute cab being bolt up conversion
as i have 2 mates with them on wagon chassis
all the body mounts line up
id still chop if you have the kno how tho
round 3-400 for rear cut off a ute up here
or u could use the wags rear n weld up the barn doors like we r bout to to on a mates
and im doing on me bundy
why
