the only difference in bellhousing is an extra hole for the starter which can be easily tapped

o.k. fair call.
Well then,if i unbolt the bellhousing from a diesel manual will that bolt to the gearbox of a petrol motor.

REASON: i dont want to have to change the gearbox and trasfer case if i dont have to.

The gearbox is the same, so if you get a diesel bellhousing it will bolt straight onto the petrol gearbox without any worries

I just did a search and thought i would bring this old thread back to life.

I have been considering doing a manual conversion after i blew my auto up recently and can get a GU TD42T manual box and bellhousing. After reading this thread i believe i can just drill and tap an extra hole to fit to my TB45 engine.

BUT then i read this thread, which says they are different. And then to confuse me more a friend told me the TD42 starter motors are in different positions.

If anyone knows for SURE !!!! what differences exist then please reply. I don't want any think so's. :)
