Got my hands on some thermocouples K type.
They are mounted in a M6 stainless steel Bolt.
work in the range of 0mV-37mV (0-900C)
Can be used with VDO,autometer gauges etc.
If anyone interested PM me.
Plan is to use 6 of them in the tunning of high horsepower deisels.
Will be placing them in the exhaust runners close as possible to the head.

Cheers

So Dazza are you running one per pot to tune each accordingly?
If so are you planning on running a in line pump? to help balance the fuel out? Or am I way off?

Just seting my mates up so we can have a look at what each pot is doing.
It's intercooled and with the design of the GQ inlet manifold
just want to check out if all cyclinders are running same temp.
Looking at the design "over a few cans" i could see that cylinder 3 and 4
would most likely get more air ie leaner burn lower temps.
Probably nothing to worry about but we are just curious.
When a melt down occurs which cylinders are the ones that let go???
Just something to do.
Will also help find "leaky" injectors.

like what you have said, number 3&4 tend to run leaner due to the air track. There is a really good site that talks about this
http://www.are.com.au/. I sore these custom inlet manifold at OBC very
Another thing to think about is balancing the cooling out, as number 5 & 6 run hotter, this can be done acouple of ways, one being running a coolant bypass. If you want some pics drop me a PM.

The cooling balancing thing sound good.
My father did this to my old L28Turbo datsun.
He drilled and taps 6 holes into the head and fabbed up a water manifold pipe.Nearly looked the same as another injector fuel rail.
Worked a treat.

Keep us inforrmed as to how you go.

If it's on a dyno and your tuning it why not just use a raytec gun?
Also are you running them through a switching setup or each to a gauge

Not trying to hijack but does anyone have pics of the cooling balancing thing, if no pics, where to tap the holes and any dimensions of pipes would be great?
Would like to have something like this on my modified RD28T.

cummins diesels run this setup and have done for years all you have to do is locate yor water passages in your cyl head drill and tap with a npt tap tapered thread and plumb
seen this done to an old 444 cummins which was twin turbo with drilled injectors with custom plungers each cylinder ran a davis craig water pump with a glycol oil mix and filled pistons creating about 29:1 comp
65 pounds of boost and alchohol and water injection and the bigeat water to air intercooler i had ever seen in a drag peterbuilt it had like 800 horsepower and 1650 nm of torque good for 12 second passes so yep it works wellCau[/quote]

If it's on a dyno and your tuning it why not just use a raytec gun?
The raytec guns would not be as accurate as they are designed to measure temperature on a given area. The IR will see the temp of the manifolds not the exhaust gas flow temp.
You can put a raytec onto a head and get a temp but it will not give the accurate coolant temp.
