However i have been reading a few threads and it seems that the heads on the tb4.2 seem to shit them selfs a fair bit is that the same for all tb4.2s or just a certin year and is it costly for a replacement head. Also the auto boxs in the partrols any good? Thanks in advance :)

LPG/dual fuel ones are prone to killing heads

as said, they tend to lose heads over a time.... usually up to the 300,000km mark and usually on LPG....

2 common reasons for the heads in TB42s going is one, that corosion inhibitor is not used in the coolant, which rusts the water jackets over time and causes headgasket and possible warping problems, and then the jackets are needed to be welded and re drilled....

the other is due to dry seals and stiff valves through the head due to running on lpg and not getting the required lubrication from the petrol to keep seals moist.

they are a good strong motor, and tough as in the bottom end also.
