An inverter is the obvious choice. Not sure what power you need though. Id guess that a 1000w inv. should be sufficient. From memory I think they are about $300.

have you looked at what power the ps2 runs on ? making a dc-dc converter may be an option otherwise you will need an inverter.

The preference would be dc-dc because inverters are rather inefficient and can easily drain a battery

1000w fark - that is huge - I am thinking 300-400 would be more than enough - 700w is a 4" grinder

let me check now on the V but it think you would be best to run a transfomer from 12v to 8.5....

You can buy a playstation 2 car kit.

Its $25 at JBhifi and plugs into your cigarette lighter.

Otherwise a cheap $100 invertor would run it. They dont draw much power.

Yeah but I thought that if you were going to go to the trouble of buying/fitting an inverter he may as well be able to run a few things off it.

I guess it is a bit of overkill though.

Have had a few mates with Xboxes and PS2s in there cars(riceboxes). They just bought a cheap inv. from Jaycar. However all of there cars were broken into. So just be careful and keep it well hidden.
