Tyre rubber going off?

After leaving my tyres outside, covered in mud, for the last 2 weeks, i finally cleaned them up today to find that they had some weird blue/grey residue on them. Is this the rubber going off or something else?

They are Simex if it makes any difference.

Whenever my tyres get mud on them and dry, a bright blue substance also shows up, much more noticable than that.

I was thinking it is the stuff they put on the tyres when transporting them. When I got my tyres, the white lettering was covered with a blue colour and this is identical to what shows up after I go in mud.
I think it might be a form of protectant or something...

Anyone confirm?

Mine do it too. The Simex's definately do, though I cant recall with the MTR's.

I'd never noticed it before, though i've never left them full of mud inside and out before either..

red dirt/mud is usually the culprit.. any time I've been to glasshouse mountains I've come home with blue on my sidewalls.. tis nothing to worry about

I used to take mine for a run on the beach when they were blue. Sorted them right out.

it stuff that they coat them in, manufactorers. when u buy new tyres they scrub the blue stuff off the lettering, but for a short period of time they will still show up the 'blue stuff' dunno what exactly it is though.

Tyres may become blue after playing in mud due to iodine in the mud discolouring the rubber - causes no probs

I've just looked at them tonight, now that they are fully dried and they are all a light shade of blue. Looks cool actually, though i'm glad other people have the same thing occurring. Thanks.

Its a wax based coat to protect them.I used to be the poor bastard that had to scrub it off at bridgestone.
