Im thinking you may have to fabricate engine mounts as I am pretty shure the chassis rails are further apart on the wide track model, I also think the bell housings are different, so you may have to transplant the Auto/gearbox with the motor, things worth looking at anyway.

I'm also thinkin about doing this conversion  125hp sounds purty good for a zook  U can get a plate that mounts the j20a up onto a sierra 1.3 gearbox and theres heavy duty engine mounts that bolt straight up onto the originals. apperently the swap isnt any harder than a 1.6 efi?

Does anyone have any more info about where to get adaption plates for the J20a to the 1.3 gearbox? I'm very seriously considering this swap into my sierra but cant find any adaption kit in Oz? :?

to the 1.3 gearbox .. hope you have a good supply of em. And a very high performance clutch

You would be far better off finding a 2wd extension housing for a 1.6 box at the minimum.. (Not from Aus though AFIK Hawk in the US may be able to help with that bit)

Trailtough in the USA have an adaptor kit. Rocky Road have had one in development for what seems like forever. At the last I heard they werr farming out the manufacture to someone else.

If you look at what is in the Trailtough package and source what you need independently and then get the actual adaptor fabbed (eg make template of belhousing and get someone to laser cut then etc) this might be a soultion.

Building a new loom may be fiddly but not undoable, best if you can do as much yourself as paying a sparky for what would be unknown territory can get pricey.
