Some may remember my Daihatsu Wrecking Yard thread, where I showed a pic of my front yard after pulling motor/gearbox/transfer case out of a $1000 SWB donor Rocky for my LWB, and the possibility of the SWB being done up for my daughters first car. Then to find the chassis stuffed, and thoughts of building something out of the body and spare LWB chassis I have here.
Anyhow, I bought a $200 SWB special last week, stuffed transfer case, and no motor, but everything else except front screen. Now, I had hopes of just fitting my spare motor and transfer case to it and getting it on the road. But, the body has really bad cancer, worse than the first SWB I bought, so that plan is out the window.
So the plan is now-
Strip the new SWB chassis to rolling stage, (just finished this over the weekend, chassis is really good)
Fit one of my spare motors to the gearbox that came with the new SWB then to one of my spare transfer cases, then into the rolling chassis.
Cut the older SWB body at the B pillar, and down through the C pillar, and join the rear section to the front, making a ute cab.
Then build a very short ute tray.
Then possibly (dont know about this step) donate one of my Detriot Lockers into the rear diff for her.
This should make a fairly unique Rocky.
The damage so far, one slashed finger, and 4 stitches, and 2 nights off work. Bugger!!!!!!
